Just another week.

Another quick 2 hours at the gym, the body is sore and could use some shower. Tonight I construct a presentation and hopefully it goes well. Go Buzz Aldrin.

Saturday Sore Morning

Yesterday marked the grand return to the gym. It hurt, I should never take a week off again. In other news my shoe insoles have been sorted out. So now my lungs are the only thing keeping me from going farther. I'm trying to expand the social network and how I access it and how often. Hopefully this will bring about more opportunities to make things. I am working on my book and I'm okay with the progress and the chapter titles see to be working. I'll be letter pressingmy first book this summe a prospect I find exciting.

Today I work two shifts and will have coffee twice. This afternoon there should be fun had with Dr. Van Ham. There must be a work around for the txt limit for my blog entries.

Spring break attacks

It seems twice as hard to produce any work when I have no other work that really needs doing. Currently I'm reading Cradle to Cradle, not very far into it and I'm already finding it repetitious. I am well aware if the irresponsible nature of industry and design and how there needs to be a change and so could you have given me a separate table of contents so I know where to start reading past the preachy bits? I will give that it has an awesome design and I love that it's made from plastic. I find that it's made of plastic contrary to the purpose of the book they could have at least given me a recycle code for the book since I can't burn it and I'll feel bad if I chuck it. I will finally stress I am very early on in the book.

I have found two more sites worth visiting:

Men and Women of Industry

Images and collections of stuff like Magnum PI clothing and accessories. Kinda like Uncrate(who has been featuring contribution from this site)

Warby Parker

Glasses, and many look cool. They run about 95 for a pair and they they donate money so some one who wouldn't be able to get glasses can. Think Toms Shoes only not ugly and with out the irony. They produce in limited runs so you might need to sign up for their e-mail alerts.

Resist Today

Screen printed goods and more, limited runs and one offs. This isn't a new site to me but I think more people should know about it. Got my wallet from them(yeah I'm a snob and got a one off) and it's really cool because it is really a piece of art when ever you bring it out. I think they are so cool I wish I could get people to stare at my empty wallet longer. In fact here is my wallet.
Next up is a lot of work over the next few days wish me well and I hope my wallet will have something in it soon.

Saturday with out the Gym

Well the gym was not open when I got there this morning. I just found out it won't be open until noon and I've just made plans. I spen a good portion of yesterday sketching on my computer testing out different programs and so far for just straight sketching I prefer Sketchbook Pro. I would upload a few of the pages I did yesterday but I don't feel like converting them to jpgs.

I guess I could just use jpgs for now since these are more getting to know the program than any real work. Sketchbook just came out more naturally and the whole program doesn't require much memory, the same couldn't be said about the other programs I used.

Photoshop CS4, well even with it being 64 bit and using hardware acceleration its a beast of a program and really isn't required when laying down some sketches. Maybe if you were going to render some sketches this would be a beter place to go.

Corel Painter 11 is just overwhelming to me. This could be an awesome program to use but I tend to sketch with either prisma or ballpoint pen and so that eliminates like 98% of the brushes are useless to me.

Corel Painter Sketchpad has one of the coolest concepts, sketchpads. So you have one file that you can keep adding pages to. I would say this is the in-between with painter and sketchbook. And you can chose the paper type and really fine tune the media but it lags and didn't have the smoothness that I got in Sketchbook.

So right now I'll continue working in sketchbook but I'll also use sketchpad I think it's something that can be fixed with a patch and therefore could still be an awesome program and give the ability to finish the work a little more than sketch pad. I will say this check your Wacom settings if you are running 2 monitors the stock setup spanned both screens and made circles into ellipses. So yeah that is the report on the first day I hope I get a few more days in to get a better opinion.

Spring break

Lets see how many sketches I can do on my computer and upload over the break. Here is one of my first sketches using Sketchbook Pro. Right now the program doesn't want me to draw a circle and makes ellipses instead. So here's Fatso
